17 DAY RAM LEELA REACHES CRESCENDO WITH BURNING OF EFFIGY OF DEMON RAVAN

With burning of effigies of demons Ravan, Kumbhkarn and Meghnath in the evening on October 24, 2023, the 17 day Ram Leela reached its crescendo. Now Bharat Milap procession will be taken out on October 28, 2023 and Rajgaddhi of lord Ram and Devi Jagran will take place on October 30, 2023. The Ram Leela is organized under the banner of Nagar Ram Leela Samiti, Ara and a team from Vrindavan staged the Ram Leela. The Ram Leela is being organized for the last 400 years continuously at the historical and religious land of Ara and people of Ara and different parts of Bhojpur district thronged to witness the Ram Leela even in the era when all is available on Television and internet. The Ram Leela was sponsored by Sambhawana Residential High School.

Under the banner of Nagar Ram Leela Samiti, Ara, a grand procession of Maa Laxmi and God Vishnu on a chariot and with drumming of musical instruments was taken out on October 14, 2023 from Jagdish Babu ke Gola, Purani Adalat that passed through the Sheesh Mahal Chowk, Aranaya Devi, Gopali Chowk, Shivganj, Badi Mathia, Mahadeva, Dharman Chowk, Chirtra Toli Road, D T Road, Town police station and culminated at Ram Leela Maidan at Ramana Maidan where with the hoisting of flag lord Hanuman and worship, a 17 day Ram Leela started.

Secretary, Nagar Ram Leela Samiti, Ara, Shambhu Prasad said that the Ram Leela started with worship of lord Ganesh and Devrishi Narad fascination on October 15, 2023 and will end with enthroning of lord Ram on October 30, 2023. He said that in between 17 days, the incidents of birth of the demon Ravan, Ravan’s penance, world victory of Meghnath, wailing of earth, birth of lord Ram, arrival of Vishwamitra, killing of demons Tadka, Subahu, emancipation of Ahilya from curse, Ganga Darshan, Nagar Darshan, meeting of Ram and Sita at garden, Dhanush Yagya, Ravan-Banasur dialogue, breaking of Shiv bow, Lakshman-Parsuram dialogue, Sita-Ram marriage, Kanyadan, Bharat farewell, Ram’s exile, Kaikeyi-Manthara dialogue, Kaikeyi- King Dashrath dialogue, Forest journey, meeting with Nishad Raj and Kevat, meeting with the sage Bharadwaj, Stay at Chitrakoot, return of minister Sumantra, demise of King Dashrath and meeting of Bharat with Ram at Chitrakoot, Atri-Anasuiya meeting with Ram and Sita, kidnapping of Sita, killing of Bali, burning of Lanka, surrender of Vibhishan, foundation of Rameshwaram, Angad-Ravan dialogue, Lakshman Shakti, killing of Kumbhkaran, Meghnath, Ahiravan and the demon king Ravan, were staged from October 15, 2023 to October 24, 2023 that kept the spectators spell bound. He said that seeing the incidents of exile of Ram meeting of Bharat with Ram at Chitrakoot and kidnapping of Sita filled the people with emotion and tears rolled down from their eyes.

The new president of the Nagar Ram Leela Samiti, Archana Singh said that Ram is Maryada Purushotta and through his conduct, he showed as to how one should live in the society and also how one should behave with anyone whether he is small of big. She said that she would leave no stone unturned to take the age long Ram Leela to a new height in the coming years. She also honoured distinguished persons of town and journalists with scarfs. She stated that a grand Devi Jagran has been organized on October 30, 2023, the day of ‘Rajgaddi’ and appealed the people to come on that day in large number. She added that on October 28, 2023, several tableaux will be taken out depicting different aspects of lord Ram and that procession will passed through the main thoroughfares of the town will reach at Ramgarhia, the place whence lord Ram along with his brother Laksham and Guru Vishwamitra had passed through en-route to Mithila.

Patron cum treasurer, Nagar Ram Leel Samiti Ara, Madan Prasad, Madan Prasad, patron Major Rana Pratap Singh, vice-president, Dilip Kumar Gupta, Shambhu Prasad Kesari, Sunny Shahabadi, Vishnu Shankar, Anand Kumar, Santosh Gupta, Sunil, Kamal Kishore Pathak, Pramod Gupta, Advocate Devendra Prasad, Gautam Kumar, Raja Neeraj Soni, Satya Prakash and others cooperated in making the event a grand success.
