Sangrur (Punjab), 16 March 2023, (RNI): It is said that if a person has passion, he can achieve his destination. Such is the story of Deputy Commandant Harbant Singh Sodi born in a simple family.

Harbant, one of the four sons and daughters of Hazara Singh Sodi and Balbir Kaur in Sangrur, Punjab, was interested in sports since childhood. His whole attention remained on this side instead of studies. He started doing very well in it and eventually sent to France to play in the World Cup. Where he brought laurels to India.

In the year 1975, he was made SI in the Border Security Force from the sports quota. During his service, he held various posts and places. He also got a chance to work with the army on the international border with Jammu and Kashmir.

Harbant married Renu, a resident of Jalandhar, in the year 1980. They have two children, Vishal and Ina. Both are married and living separately. Harbant lives separately with wife Renu. Mrs. Renu is a devout woman. She makes sure to go to the Gurudwara every day, taking out her time.

Harbant, who retired from the post of Deputy Commandant on April 30 in the year 2015, says that it is a different pleasure to work on the border for the security of the country. He said that when he was posted on the border with Jammu and Kashmir, There used to be danger, because the enemy is at a height. Despite this, the morale of our fellow soldiers is very high. We were always ready to give a befitting reply to the enemy.

Harbant, who is related to social concern, says that from the beginning, he had a desire to join such work after retirement, where he would get an opportunity to serve the common people. Thinking of this, he became the head of the security guard at the RP Center of AIIMS Delhi.

Honored by the President for his commendable service in the year 2014, Harbant says that here he gets full cooperation from the hospital administration, senior doctors, his colleagues and the general public. This is the reason why we are able to provide better service to the needy people here.
