EIGHT TRUCKS TAKEN OUT OF RIVER SONE, 20 STILL STUCK DUE TO HEAVY RAIN

The increased water level due to heavy rain, has aggravated the problems of stranded trucks in the river Sone near Indrapuri in Rohtas district. About 28 trucks were stuck in the river Sone due to the increased water level in the river Sone out of which 8 trucks were somehow been taken out of the river but owing to fast current, the officials find it very difficult to pull the rest 20 trucks out the river Sone.

Sasaram, 3 July 2023, (RNI): The increased water level due to heavy rain, has aggravated the problems of stranded trucks in the river Sone near Indrapuri in Rohtas district. About 28 trucks were stuck in the river Sone due to the increased water level in the river Sone out of which 8 trucks were somehow been taken out of the river but owing to fast current, the officials find it very difficult to pull the rest 20 trucks out the river Sone.

On the night of June 29, 2023, 28 trucks carrying sand got stuck in the sudden rise of water level in the river Sone in front of the Qatar Sand Ghat of Indrapuri police station area in Rohtas district and due to continuous flow of water and fast current, the work of making the way is interrupted and the rescue operation has become almost impossible despite many Poclains, Hydra, JCB machines have been pressed into operation but even they are not able to make ways. The fast current is swaying away sand bags.

The two days heavy rain aggravated the problems of the truck owners and drivers stuck in the river Sone further the they have no place to take shelter near the river. Sitting in a truck stuck in the river, is not free from danger and if the water level of the water further rises, the trucks can drown in the river and two trucks have already submerged in the river.

Meanwhile, even after the police patrolling in the area, two batteries, six tyres and many other items were stolen from two trucks stuck in the river so far. A truck owner Vikas Singh of Mohnia in Kaimur district said that two batteries and six tyres from his trucks bearing registration Nos BR45G 5005 and BR45G 8888, Jacks and other items have stolen and he informed the police in this regard. Aman Kumar of Devaria village in Kaimur district said that his truck bearing registration No UP70FT 2424 is completely submerged in the river Sone.

At least 14811 cusec of water is available in Indrapuri Barrage at 12 noon on Sunday which was 17095 cusec on Saturday. The Indrapuri Barrage received 2200 cusec of water from Rehand reservoir and 6000 cusec of water from Bansagar reservoir on Sunday, said the Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Dehari-on-Sine. He said that at least 4250 cusec of water was released from the Barrage to the eastern connecting canal and 1308 cusec to the western connecting parallel canal. He further said that the water level at the barrage is 355 feet and at present 3757 cusec of water is being released into the river Sonr by opening 3 of the 69 gates of the barrage. He advised the farmers to take advantage of this and manage water in their field. He also said that they can store water in village ponds and puddles.

It was said that the rescue work of the trucks stuck in the river Sone is under the shoulder of the Ghat Operators. SDO, Dehari-on-Sone, Sunil Kumar Sinha said that the rescue operation is going on with the help of the Ghat operators and added that some trucks have been pulled out of the river. He said that the Ghat operators are doing the work of making way.

A truck driver Subhash Yadav of Ramgarh in Kaimur district expressed his anguish over the dilly-dallying attitude of the Rohts district administration and said that it the Rohtas district aministraion had called for ‘Pipa’ machine from Patna, all the trucsk would have been out of the river by now but there is no facility from the district administration here. Whatever is going on here, the Ghat operators are doing.
