The National Scheduled Caste Commission gave instructions to the District Collector and S.P.

Kolkata (RNI) The National Scheduled Caste Commission has directed the Collector and SP of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal to take necessary action and submit a report within 15 days in the case of senior journalist Mrityunjay Sardar.

This instruction has been given in the letter issued by the North-Eastern Unit of the Commission on May 7, 2024. Senior journalist Mr. Sardar, resident of Hadiya village, Jeevan Tara police station of the district, had sought the intervention of the Commission for the safety of his movable & immovable property and life.

It is noteworthy that Mr. Sardar is the head of a media organization published and broadcast from West Bengal and he has been attacked several times. Journalist organizations across the country have strongly condemned the attacks on him from time to time and have appealed to the government for his safety.
