The transport department is lying idle.Everyday hundreds of vehicles registered in other States are plying in the Ara town, district headquarter itself. Due to this, the government is facing revenue loss of lakhs of rupees. Responsible people are turning away from their responsibility.

All types of big and small vehicles with registration from other States are operating in Bhojpur district. These vehicles include buses, trucks, JCBs, harvesters, various types of small vehicles and they operate in Bhojpur district for years with impunity right under the nose of the officials of Bhojpur Transport Officer. The morale of such recalcitrant people is very high due to no action by the Transport Department.

About 60 percent of vehicles include small and big vehicles, registered from Jharkhand State alone are plying in Bhojpur district while 25 percent registered from New Delhi, 10 percent registered from Uttar Pradesh and the rest registered from Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Odhisa are running in Bhojpur district for years.

The vehicles registered from other States are allowed to ply in the district only for six months without registering the vehicle in the district. If they exceed six months, they are considered invalid. The owners of such vehicles have to inform the District Transport Office within six months and get their vehicles registered with the district transport office by paying a fee and their registration number will be changed.

If the owners of vehicles operating in the district after registration from other States, do not inform the Transport Department within six months and do not registered their vehicles within six months after paying requisite fees, the department impose financial penalty on such vehicles. Normally, a monetary penalty up to Rs. 5000 is imposed besides the amount of time the vehicle has been operated with the road tax till that time is taken by the transport department. In addition to it, the penalty for commercial vehicles is fixed Rs. 10,000 for 10 wheelers, Rs. 18,000 for 12 wheelers, Rs. 22,000 for 14 wheelers trucks and is taken as road tax and their permit is made.
