BHOJPUR SP SUSPENDS POLICE DRIVER FOR SLAPPING LADY POLICE CONSTABLE
A police driver was suspended with immediate effect and has been line closed in connection with slapping of lady constable. An inquiry team has also been formed to inquire into the matter.
Ara, 15 June 2023, (RNI): A police driver was suspended with immediate effect and has been line closed in connection with slapping of lady constable. An inquiry team has also been formed to inquire into the matter.
Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav said that a video was made viral in the social media showing that a police driver slapped a lady constable on her cheek in full public view and also in presence of police personnel at Ward No 5 under Koelwar police station on June 14, 2023. The came to his knowledge and he suspended the police driver Atish Kumar with immediate effect. The SP though he slapped the lady constable by mistake and the lady constable did not complaint against him so far despite he took action against the police driver.
It may be mentioned here that Md Meraz Zafar of Ward No 5 under Koelwar police station had given a written complaint to the police station against Md Shamim Ahamad blaming that Md Shamim Ahamad was forcibly constructing building encroaching a piece of land in front of his house. For verification of the complaint, a police team reached Ward No 5, the police scuffle with the locals and the people even heckled the police personnel. The police arrested some persons of a group and proceeded towards the police station but the villagers protested and they scuffled with the police personnel.
The villagers blamed that the police driver used vulgar words against the villagers and abused them. When some people were videographing the incident, the police snatched the mobile and threatened to send them to jail. A lady constable who was one of the members of the patrolling party, forbade the driver to do so from behind. Thinking that it might general people, the police driver slapped the lady constable in the presence of villagers and other police personnel. The lady constable fell to the ground. Though, other police personnel intervened and hushed up the matter but someone made video of the incident and viraled it in the social media.
SHO Koelwar police station Avinash Kumar said that when the patrolling party went to the Ward No 5 under Koelwar police station to investigate the complaint filed by Md Meraz Zafar, the villagers disturbed the police. The lady constable was removing the villagers from behind and the police driver slapped her by mistake thinking she was a villager.
