RESERVOIR LAND ENCROACHED UPON DUE TO INACTION OF THE OFFICIALS

Sasaram, 10 July 2023, (RNI): The reservoir spread over six acres of land at Dahiyadi village of Sikariya Panhayat under Karakat police station in Rohtas district has been encroached upon. The Karakat block has 78 water bodies of which 62 are not heard off. Only 16 water bodies are listed. According to Matsyajeevi Sahyog Samiti, such situation arises because the District Magistrate, Rohtas, Fishery Officer, Circle Officer showed least interest towards it.
Altogether four acres of six acres reservoir has been encroached upon but all possibilities of bloodshed are there for the rest of the encroachment at Dahiyadi village. The encroachment not only obstructs watering of the field but the encroachers not allow the farmers to go to their fields.
Sanjay Tiwari, member of Matsyajeevi Sahyog Samiti, Dahiyadi 0village said that khata number 111, khesara number 144,118, 221, 119 at mauja Dahiyadi, revenue on six acres is deposited in the Fishery Department as per the government rule but four acres of land has been encroached upon by building puccha houses, putting tiles, shanties, bamboo sticks. The villagers, farmers, ward members gave petitions to the Rohtas District Magistrate, Fishery Department, Sasaram, Sub-Divisional Officer, Bikramganj and Circle Office several times earlier to free the reservoir from encroachment but no action has so far been taken in this regard. Farmers are harried lot as their field are not irrigated.
The Matasya Sahyog Samiti, Karakat demanded the Rohtas DM to make the reservoir encroachment free.
Chhanu Chaudhary, member Matsya Sahyog Samiti said that 4 acres of six acre of reservoir has been encroached upon. The Samiti has given a report to the DM to free the reservoir encroachment free after measuring from the Karakat Circle Amin but no action so far been taken in this regard even after two years.
The police said that there was a dispute between two groups regarding the possession of the encroached reservoir and added that they admonished either of the group if there is any dispute for encroachment of government land, strict legal action will be taken.
Jitendra Kumar, R O Karakat said that he has not information about the encroachment of reservoir in Dahiyadi village as he is new there and if someone encroached the reservoir, strict action will be taken against them and the reservoir be made encroachment free.
