BUXAR------------------------Buxar District Consumers’ Grievances Redressal Commission issued notice against Indira In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Hospital Private Limited, Patna in the complaint filed for compensation of Rs. 42.87 lakh.

Sangeeta Devi of Khalasi locality in Buxar district knew through an advertisement that the Indira In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Hospital Private Limited, Patna provides facilities to infertile people through In Vitro Fertilization (artificial pregnancy). Seeing the advertisement, she called on the given number for detailed information where she was repeatedly called to the hosopital in Patna. When she and her husband Ravi Kumar Gupta went to the hospital, doctor examined them and after finding both of them healthy and fit, a total of Rs. 2.37 lakh was deposited to conceive an embryo and advised to come to the hospital on fixed date. When she reached the hospital for the fixed date, the doctor in the hospital, they told her that her sugar level is not normal and her thyroid is high and in such case she will have to take medicines for a few days. On their advice she acted accordingly and also frequently visited the hospital whenever course of the medicines completed but the doctor repeatedly prescribed medicines and sent her back and in this way, many months passed. Meanwhile, the applicant’s condition started getting worse and so she consulted another doctor where she was told that the doctors of the hospital had administered her over dose of medicines continuously for 50 days due to which her condition strated deteriorated. She futher tried to contact the doctor at the hospital in Patna but in vain. So she sent a pleader’s notice to the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Hospital Private Limited, Patna but neither the service of artificial pregnancy were provided nor the money they had taken was returned. At last she filed a complaint case in the Buxar District Consumers Grienaces Redressal Commission against the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Hospital Private Limited, Patna in this regard. After hearing, division bench of Buxar District Consumers Grienaces Redressal Commission comprisingRetired Judge cum Chairman of the Commission, Ved Prakash Singh and one of the members of the Commission Rajeev Kumar issued notice on the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Hospital Private Limited, Patna.
