SEVEN WOMEN INCLUDING A PREGNANT WOMAN BURNT TO DEATH IN ROHTAS DISTRICT

SASARAM--------------------------Seven women including a pregnant woman of Mahadalit families were burnt to death alive while a middle aged woman was badly injured when their huts caught fire due to electrical short circuit at Ibrahimpur village under Kachhawa police station of Nasariganj block in Rohtas district. SDM Anil Basak, Karakat BDO Rahul Kumar, CO Dr. Ritesh Kumar Singh, SHO Kachhawa police station Mitesh Kumar rushed to the spot and requisitioned fire brigade. By the time, the fire brigade could control the fire, seven persons had burnt to death alive. The deceased were identified as Pushpa Devi 30 wife of Devraj Chaudhary, her son Bajrangi Kumar 6, daughters Kajal Kumari 4, Moti Kumari 5 and Gudia Kumari 1 of Badahar Tola under Jagdishpur police station, Kanti Kumari 6 daughter of Shyama Chaudhary of Ramnagar village under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district and a pregnant woman Maya Devi 25 wife of Deepak Chaudhary of Lemdara village under Vishavadar police station of Junagadh district in Gujarat while the injured was identified as Raju Devi 45. Police recovered the bodies and brought them to the Sasaram Sadar Hospital for postmortem and admitted the injured there.

SHO Kachhawa police station said that the Mahadalit families lived in huts under a canal bridge near Ibrahimpur village under Kachhawa police station of Nasariganj block in Rohtas district. In the afternoon, all the male members had gone on work while women stayed at their huts. Reportedly, they were cooking food in the huts when their huts caught fire due to spark coming from a nearby transformer and all the women including a pregnant woman were burnt to death alive.
