PATIENTS ARE HARRIED LOT AS BIHAR’S FIRST MODEL HOSPITAL CLOSES AFTER 5PM

ARA-------------------------Queer are the ways of the Bihar’s First Model Hospital built at a cost of crores of rupees at Ara, headquarter of the Bhojpur district. The hospital which is expected to provide best services to the patients is failed in its goat and has become an iota of negligence.

The government is determined to provide the best medical services to the patients and to achieve the goal, had given the Ara Sadar Hospital the status of Model Hospital but the patients here are not getting timely treatment.

As per the new rule of the government, Outpatients Department (OPD) service are to be made available in the morning and also in the evening in all government hospitals from March 1, 2025 and it was made mandatory for doctors to be present in the OPD from 8am to 12 noon and again from 4pm to 6pm. but in the Ara Sadar Hospital, Bihar’s First Model Hospital, this rule seems to be limited to papers only.

In the Ara Sadar Hospital, the OPD department gets locked between 4.30pm to 5pm. patients and their relatives or attendance wander here and there in search of doctors but they do not get any help. A complaint about this disorder was made to the hospital’s Deputy Surgeon Rajeev Kumar and he had assured to rectify it and issue notices to all the doctors but the situation remained the same and nothing was done to rectify the disorder. All the chambers of the OPD department were found closed. When this was brought to the knowledge of Civil Surgeon Shivendra Kumar Sinha, he simply disconnected the mobile saying the he would issue notice. At the same time, when tried to contact the Hospital Manager and Deputy Surgeon, Rajeev Rajan Rai, his office was also found locked and he did not answer the calls.

Another example of negligence on the part of the Ara Sadar Hospital management came to light when the body of a unidentified elderly person was found in the minor Operation Theatre (OT) of the hospital but the body was neither removed from there nor the hospital administration take any action on it.

Besides, the government has provided facilities of pathology of every kind in the Ara Sadar Hospital for the patients but the poor and hapless patients seldom get the facilities after 12 noon. It was said that the facilities will be available only from 8am to 12 noon. One poor and hapless patient said that she came to the Ara Sadar Hospital for treatment at about 2pm and the doctor advised ultrasound. She said that the ultrasound unit was closed for the day and the facility will be available the next day. She said that she is too poor to get the ultrasound from outside and she was suffering from acute stomachache

Again the government has provided facility of Generic medicines on the campus of the Ara Sadar Hospital so that the poor patient can get medicines at cheap rate and the Generic medicines shop should keep at least 177 types of medicines but it keeps only 72 types of medicines and the poor patients have to buy the rest medicines from outside outlet at heavy cost. Even the only counter of the Generic medicines could not serve the purpose due to heavy rush of the patients.
