Ara, 5 December 2022, (RNI): One newlywed woman was killed at Motidiha village under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district merely for a motorcycle and tried to perform the last rites but the police seized the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Agiaw Bazaar police station against five persons including the husband, Rahul Sharma alias Sonu Kumar, father-in-law, Ramesh Sharma, mother-in-law, brother-in-law on the statement of Gyanchand Sharma, father of the deceased. The police arrested.

Quoting the FIR, the SHO Agiaw Bazaar police station Brajesh Kumar said that Gyanchand Shgarma of Koil village under Charpokhari police station married his daughter Neha Devi 20 to Rahul Sharma alias Sonu Kumar son of Ramesh Sharma of Motidih village under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhohpur district on February 16, 2022. Since marriage, the in-laws tortured her even physically merely for a motorcycle. She informed her father regarding it. Two days before the incident, Neha Devi informed her father on mobile that her in-laws planned to kill her. Her father consented to give a motorcycle. Meanwhile, the father-in-law informed Neha’s father that she had committed suicide by hanging herself and they were taking her to the hospital but the police intercepted and recovered the body. They told the police that she fell from the roof and so they were taking her to the hospital. Meanwhile, Gyanchand Sharma along with other family members rushed to Motidih village but all the family members of her daughter were not present in the house. Their neighbour said that the in-laws had killed her and took the body perform last rites. They at one informed the Agiaw Bazaar police station and the police recovered the body loaded on a vehicle near a canal. Seeing the police, the in-laws tried to fled but the police arrested four of them and are conducting raids to arrest a woman accused.
