THREE KILLED, ABOUT HALF A DOZEN INJURED

Ara, 10 February 2023, (RNI): At least three persons were killed while about half a dozen were injured when an auto rickshaw collided head on with a speeding mini truck near Kulharia under Koelwar police station on Ara-Patna main road today. The drivers of the auto rickshaw and the mini truck escaped from the scene. The injured were admitted to the Ara Sadar Hospital and the police brought the bodies to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The deceased were identified as Tarkeshwar Rai 38 his wife Sandhya Devi 35 and his daughter Chhoti Kumari 18 while the injured were identified as Khushi Kumari 17 and Niti Kumari 13 daughters of Tarkeshwar Rai and Vishwakarma 10 son of Tarkeshwar Rai, Arbind Sharma 48 son of Bindeshwari Sharma, Sanju Devi 42 wife of Arbind Sharma. An FIR was lodged with the police under Koewlar police station in this regard and the police seized the auto-rickshaw and the mini truck. Irate residents of the area blocked the road for about two hours and paralyzed movement of vehicles. They burnt tyres of road and raised slogans against the district administration. They were demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. The blockade could be lifted after positive response of officials. 

SHO Koelwar police station said that all the deceased and injured persons were going to their native village at Koelwar under the same police station from Ara on an auto-rickshaw and when they reached near Kulharia under Koelwar police station on Ara-Patna main road, a mini truck at great speed collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw killing three of a family and injured about half a dozen. The collision was so great that the auto-rickshaw was completely smashed.
