SASARAM-------------------------Cattle breeders face a lot of problems in the treatment of their cattle as the three Veterinary hospitals in Godari block in Rohtas district are running shortage of doctors and paramedical staffs.

The Godari block has three veterinary hospitals one at Karakat, one at Sakala and one at Godari, block headquarter. Only two doctors are posted in three veterinary hospitals without any paramedical staff. Dr. Rakesh Kumar is appointed at Karakat and Dr. Shyam Devi is appointed at Sakala while the veterinary college at Godari headquarters is running under in-charge doctor. Though a data entry operator is appointed but these hospitals have no compounder and an employee. The Veterinary hospitals are running on the grace of god.

Non-government persons known as quacks are doing vaccination of animals. It is noteworthy here that these quacks also treat most of the animals due to shortage of government veterinary doctors and paramedical staffs in these veterinary hospitals for the large areas. The shortage of government doctors, paramedical staffs hampers works and condition is becoming more and more pitiable with each passing day.

At least 500 people rear cattle in a village of the block area and over one lakh cattle are there in the block but in the name of treatment of cattle in the government veterinary hospitals is only pretentious.

Cattle breeders Sanjay Kumar, Narendra Kumar, Ajay Singh, Lal Babu Singh and others said that the cattle should not be treated at the government veterinary hospitals and preferred to go to private hospitals. They said all medicines are not available in the veterinary hospitals and they have to buy these medicines from the open market at high cost.

People do animal husbandry on a large scale in the block but how can it be possible to treat so many animals by merely two doctors and that too without paramedical staffs and it puts a big question mark on the efficacy of government.

Animal fair is held every Wednesday at Karakat without any arrangement of treatment of them while Karakat has a veterinary hospital which has no treatment facility. The veterinary hospital at Sakala has a doctor Shyam Dev but it is always closed. All the veterinary hospitals in this block are in pitiable condition due to absence of paramedical staffs.

Dr Rakesh Kumar, mobile veterinary doctor cum in-charge Godari Veterinary Hospital said that the cattle treatment is a big problem in the block due to shortage of veterinary doctor and paramedical staffs in the veterinary hospitals. After moving to a village for the treatment of cattle, it becomes very difficult to reach another village. By the way, whoever reaches the veterinary hospital, their problem is solved.
