ARA--------------------------A youth was beaten to death at Patkhauli village under Sikarhatta police station in Bhojpur district after a minor dispute arose during a dancing and singing programme at the time of wedding ceremony. The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar 26 son of Surendra Ram of Patkhauli village. Later the police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Sikarhatta police station on the statement of Ravi Nandan Prasad, cousin of the deceased against six persons including Pawan Singh, Basant Singh alias Sadhu Singh, Raju Singh, Rajan Kumar, Zamindar Singh and Lal Bahadur Singh of the village. After institution of FIR, the police swung into action and arrested Basant Singh alias Sadhu Singh and also detained five persons for interrogation. Rakesh used to work as a truck driver in Jharkhand but recently he had cleared the Bihar Police cosntable recruitment examination and his name has also appeared in the merit list. Both the family and Rakesh were very excited about this new beginning but the fate had something else in store.
Rakesh Kumar was returning home from Fatehpur market after giving food to his younger brother. He was brutally attacked on the way and when he recovered, there were severe injury marks on his head, left cheek, palms, elbow, chest and stomach. Both eyes were swollen and black wounds were clearly visible on the face. There was blood spilled near the hody which made it clear that he was brutally beaten.
His family members allegedtaht after murder, an attempt was made to pass it off as a road accident. The accused dragged the body and threw it some distance away leaving blood marks on it. This shows that the murder was well planned and later a conspiracy was hatched to show it as an accident. They further said that wo days before the incident, Rakesh Kumar’s cousin’s wedding was in the village. Durign the dance programme, Rakesh had a dispute with some youths of the village. This murder was committed due to that dispute.
SHO Sikarhatta police station said that the murder case is bein investigated and the police are conducting raids to arrest the named accused. He assured that the case will be solved at the earliest and justice will be provided to the victim’s family.
